Abstracts

Abstract selection for the ArgoSpine Symposium is now closed

General information

Abstracts, in English only, can be submitted online until September 27th, 2013 (included).
Abstracts must be submitted on or before the closing date. Please note that late submissions will not be considered.

Submitted abstract will be considered:

  • Either for oral or poster presentation (the Scientific Committee will have the final decision regarding the type of presentation)
  • Either for clinical cases or series
  • In one of the following topic
1. The degenerative cascade- Natural history
2. Where is the pain coming from?
3. Diagnosis (mostly lumbar)
4. Diseases and injuries to the disc
5. Surgery in the inter-vertebral disc space
6. Motion recovery in the inter-vertebral disc space
7. Restorative capacity of the inter-vertebral disc space
8. Infection of the inter-vertebral disc space (lumbar thoracic and cervical)

The word limit for all abstracts is 400 words, not including the title.

This year, the interactive vote will be available by smartphone. More information will be provided soon.

Guidelines for Clinical cases presentations

For Clinical cases presentation, authors will be asked to indicate the type of imaging exams already performed, and the gender and age of the patient.

Pictures, Tables and Figures

For Clinical cases presentations 5 pictures (tables and/or figures) minimum must be inserted in the abstracts.
The tables and figures must be inserted as pictures (JPEG format).
Pictures format : Low compression JPEG
Pictures minimum size : 300dpi minimum (minimum width of 1200 pixels. )

If your abstract is selected for an oral communication of Clinical cases, your presentation must be divided as follows :

  • Presentation of the clinical case (including IRM, scans, …)
  • Questions to the audience submitted to interactive vote :
    • You must ask 4 questions on topics such as final diagnosis, complementary exams, proposed therapeutic solutions.
    • For each question, you will have to indicate if the answer is single or multiple choices
    • Each questions can have up to 6 answers and the last answer must be “Other”
    • You may include one concluding slide

 

Your allotted time will be 15 minutes divided in 10-minute presentation (about 7 slides) and 5-minute discussion.

You will have to send your PowerPoint presentation before December 14, 2013 in order to prepare the interactive vote system.

If your abstract is selected for an oral communication of Series, your presentation must be divided as follows :
Presentation : 7 minutes (about 7 slides)
Discussion : 3 minutes (Questions/answers with the audience)
Your allotted time is 10 minutes divided in 7-minute presentation (about 7 slides) and 3-minute discussion.

ArgoSpine Thesis Award

Aim

The ArgoSpine thesis award recognizes outstanding medical and/or biomechanics research targeting a contemporary clinical problem in the management of spinal pathologies.

This award is open to all scientists having completed a PhD or PhD candidates at the end of their PhD programme as well as to medical students for a master of sciences thesis or for a medical school thesis.

Eligibility

You are

  • PhD candidate at the end of their PhD programme
  • Medical students for a master of sciences thesis
  • Or a medical students for a medical school thesis

 

(Nominees must not have completed/defended their research work prior to November 2013).

Documents to be provided

You must sent the following documents:

  • A cover letter specifying the candidate’s interest in being considered for the award
  • 2 copies of the final manuscript of the thesis (in the original language)
  • 3 copies of a long abstract (in English), up to 5 pages, clearly presenting the nominee’s work and having the nominee as first or sole author

 

to the ArgoSpine Secretary Office (nathalie.richard@argospine.org) no later than October 1st 2013.

Award decision

The award decision will be based on the quality and originality of the research work, its potential impact on the management of spinal diseases, its clear and rigorous presentation.

  • A 1 000€ prize
  • A presentation of the work recognized by the award (7’ oral presentation + 3’ discussion) during the Symposium
  • Winner’s travel and accommodation expenses covered
  • Publication of the long abstract in the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology (EJOST)
  • Publication of the long abstract in ArgoSpine News and Journal

 

Registration of presenting authors

All accepted presenters (oral and poster presentations) are required to register for the conference and pay the full fee before December 10th, 2013 in order to confirm their presentation. Failure to do this could result in losing the presentation slot and not being published in the “Symposium Scientific book” and in the “ArgoSpine News and Journal”.

Abstract withdrawal

If the author wants to withdraw a submitted abstract after the submission deadline, please contact us at argospine@clq-group.com

Login procedure

When following the submission procedure, as a first time user, you will automatically be assigned an access code. Returning users may log into the system using their assigned access code. You will then be able to edit, preview, modify and cancel abstracts at any time up to the submission deadline. If you want to submit more than one abstract you can use the same access code for each of them.
