Tour the University of Washington Biosciences and Engineering Labs

The Biosciences and Engineering program at the University of
Washington is known for its education of students for the pulp, paper and
bioproducts industries and its advanced research to to completely convert
biomass into fuels and chemicals. A tour has been planned to allow IBBC
attendees to see both their
laboratory and pilot scale equipment and comprehensive analytical capability that
are allowing them to do fundamental research.
The tour will include three labs:
- Pilot scale laboratory with a steam gun, VSEP membrane separation unit, and catalytic reactors.
- Thermal conversion laboratory
- Bioconversion laboratory
Researchers will be available to discuss the results of their
work before and during the tour.
Tour Cost: $30; must register to attend.
Tour Schedule:
7:15 am - Leave hotel for University of Washington
8:00 am - Arrival and Introduction to the Bio-Science and Engineering and research programs
8:30 am- Lab tour
9:30 am - Group departs to return to the conference.
