Event Description

Join the IIA Florida West Coast Chapter for its October seminar. We welcome Bethmara Kessler to facilitate the chapter’s October seminar. This seminar will cover two distinct topics including two hours of ethics. The first six hours will focus on IT security. The last two hours will wrap up the day with ethics.

Session Overview:

Part One
There is no denying that we exist in a digital world where massive volumes of organizational and personal data lives and thrives. The value of that data can be highly attractive to bad actors inside and outside of our organizations. In today’s world the security, governance and risk management of data is not just an IT responsibility – any individual in a business can put critical and/or highly sensitive data at risk.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Learn about IT security threats posed by bad actors inside and outside an organization, explore what motivates them, and understand their methods
  • Explore governance and risk management frameworks that build resilience and provide the ability for organizations to manage continually evolving IT security risks
  • Discuss tips and practical ideas to increase their IT security, governance & risk management audit effectiveness that will help foster more collaborative business partnerships around these topics

Part Two
Most companies want to do the right thing when it comes to ethics. It seems that it should be as easy as just telling everyone in the organization ‘always do the right thing.’ As we all know building an ethical culture is not that simple. This session will explore the dynamics of building and sustaining an ethical culture, especially in an environment where everything cannot always
be black and white.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Learn why it is so hard to build and sustain an ethical culture
  • Be challenged with ethical dilemmas
  • Explore cases where ethics, culture and behavior evolved into shades of grey
  • Take away practical ideas to build or reinvigorate your Company’s approach to sustaining an ethical culture
CPE:  6 in Specialized Knowledge & Applications, 2 in Behavioral Ethics

Fee:  $79 members, $99 non-members (Registration with payment is required prior to receiving the confirmation log-in link.)
