Charles Annis, Senior Director, Display Manufacturing Technology, Omdia

Mr. Charles Annis serves as Senior Director at Omdia. He previously worked at DisplaySearch and Solarbuzz, leading providers of display and solar market intelligence. Mr. Annis is a leading expert in flat panel display research and served in a dual role as vice president of manufacturing research at DisplaySearch as well as at its sister company of Solarbuzz. At DisplaySearch, he was responsible for analyzing emerging technologies, tracking and forecasting flat panel display investments, and researching equipment, materials and process trends. At Solarbuzz, he developed the company's proprietary polysilicon, wafer and cell manufacturing databases and authored related reports.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Mr. Annis spent six years at Photon Dynamics (now Orbotech), the leading provider of yield management solutions to the FPD industry and served as an international business manager for SAMCO International, a Japanese semiconductor equipment manufacturer. He holds a master's degree in Business Law from Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan, and a bachelor's degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California, US. He is based in Japan.

YS Chung, Director, Omdia

Mr. Yoonsung Chung is a Director of Analysis & Research within the Omdia technology group.

He previously worked at DisplaySearch and Solarbuzz, leading providers of display and solar market intelligence. At DisplaySearch, he served as director of large-area displays & FPD materials analysis in the company's Korea office. He is a recognized display expert and has been invited to speak on large-area displays, especially on PDP technology, at many Korean FPD forums.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Mr. Chung spent 10 years on the R&D and marketing teams of Samsung SDI's CRT and PDP Division. There, he managed PDP product planning and technology marketing, led the FPD benchmarking team in the PDP Division and taught Samsung SDI's new employees about display history and technologies. Mr. Chung has a bachelor's degree from Kookmin University in Seoul, South Korea.

Joy Guo, Senior Analyst, Small/Medium Displays, Omdia

Joy Guo has 14 years experience in the Small & Medium display field. Prior to joining the organization that would become Omdia, Joy worked at BOE as a product manager in APP SBU, responsible for Medical/Industrial display product planning.

Joy started her career at Tianma in 2003, first working as a LCD module design engineer in R&D Center, then taking charge of the management of product design rules and developing progress. After that, she transfered to the Marketing Department as a Senior Analyst, first focusing on mobile phone display, followed by automotive display application.

She holds a bachelor degree of Automation from Beihang University and she is proceeding to the degree of Master of Business Management, in Renmin University of China.

Irene Heo, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Irene Heo covers display components and materials, with a primary focus on optical films and the touch panel industry.

Irene has tracked the display industry’s parts and materials market for many years. She worked for a year in 2007 at the company’s Yokohama office, where the human networks she built during that period remain a great asset for her optical-film-related research.

Irene worked previously at the liquid-crystal synthesis division of Dongjin Semichem, an electrical materials company, in Incheon, South Korea.

Irene received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in organic chemistry from Konkuk University, a leading private university in Seoul, South Korea.

Jusy Hong, Research & Analysis Director, Omdia

Jusy Hong is a key analyst and the director for mobile devices, networks, and media in the Asia Pacific region, covering mobile handset production, technology, and market-related strategies. Jusy also coordinates the wider consumer electronics research in Asia.

In his previous roles in the organization, Jusy led the research team on TV technology and ecosystems, which included the panel display market for TVs and large-sized LCDs. He has also worked on the global monitor and public information markets.

Jusy’s work is currently concentrated in the areas of demand forecasting, competitive analysis, pricing, and new-trend analysis. He also serves as project manager for numerous consultancy missions centered on display technology for industry-leading manufacturers, government institutions, and investment companies.

A frequent speaker at major industry events around the world such as SID, KDC, and IMID, Jusy is based in South Korea. He speaks fluent Korean, English, and Japanese, and he maintains a broad network of key contacts in both South Korea and Japan.

David Hsieh, Senior Director, Omdia

David Hsieh is a noted expert in research and analysis of the TFT LCD, and LCD TV value chain for Mainland China and Taiwan. As head of the Displays team, he oversees the division’s end-to-end research on displays, covering the supply chain, materials and components, supply-and-demand dynamics, pricing and cost modeling, revenue and shipment forecasts, and emerging technologies.

In an earlier stint at DisplaySearch, he led the company’s primary research and forecasting on the global display market while concurrently serving as vice president of the greater China market. David also worked at HannStar Display, a leading manufacturer of TFT LCD panels, as a key account manager, production planner, and production engineer for the HannStar TFT LCD module line.

David belongs to a distinguished circle of only 11 Technology Fellows in the Omdia organization, an honor that recognizes his deep expertise and exceptional standing within the analyst community.

He is a graduate of Chung-Yuan Christian University in Taiwan, and he has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

Brian Huh, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Brian Huh is a principal analyst within Omdia. He previously worked at DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the global display market. At DisplaySearch, he served as a senior analyst for small and medium displays, including emerging displays, touch screen panels and mobile PC displays.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Brian worked at Hydis in South Korea as a TFT LCD module process engineer for five years and as a strategic marketing manager for six years. He is an expert in planning new products and promotions, formulating product and business strategy, and forecasting for mobile PC panels and smartphone displays. Brian has a bachelor's degree in electronics from Dongguk University in Seoul, South Korea. He speaks both Korean and English.

Alex Kang, Senior Analyst, Omdia

Alex Kang is responsible for large-area TFT-LCD panel market research at IHS, including manufacturing fab and supply chain management. He is one of the key contacts for the LCD research.

Alex joined IHS in 2005 and has carried out multiple projects for the players in the display industry and government entities. He led numerous projects, including feasibility studies of investment, marketability forecast of emerging technologies, establishment of business cluster development strategy, and long-term LCD market volume and pricing forecast.

The experience provided him with extensive network capability in the Asian LCD panel market and in-depth knowledge on the supply chain.

Alex received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Hanyang University.

Jerry Kang, Associate Director, Omdia

Jerry Kang is responsible for the OLED display market analysis at Omdia. His main focus is the AMOLED panel and the next generation display market including flexible and transparent display with AMOLED.

With more than 10 years of industry experience, Jerry is known for his professional analysis and strategic insights on the technology and market for OLED display. He is frequently quoted in media, and is invited to speak at major conferences worldwide.

Prior to 2011, Jerry worked as an OLED development engineer at Samsung SDI and Samsung Mobile Display, in charge of operational circuit designing for OLED and LCD.

Jerry has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics engineering from Pusan National University in South Korea.

Jimmy Kim, Ph.D.. Senior Principal Analyst, Display Materials & Components

Dr. Jimmy Kim is a Senior Principal Analyst at Omdia. He previously worked at DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the global display market. At DisplaySearch, he served as a senior analyst in charge of display materials and LED analysis.

Before DisplaySearch, he spent three years on the marketing team at Samsung LED (currently Samsung Electronics), leading the display-related LED market team and creating marketing strategies for the company. Prior to Samsung LED, Dr. Kim spent five years at Samsung Electronics working on the R&D team for the LCD business. There, he led several R&D projects on new light sources for LCD backlights and new BLU structures. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Seoul National University, Korea.

Tay Kim, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Tay Kim focuses on the digital signage market and hospitality TV. He is responsible for the market research, analysis, and forecast of digital signage and hospitality TV.

His research covers a diverse range of vertical markets including education, corporate, transportation, hospitality, retail, sports, and other public spaces. Additionally, he regularly contributes to custom and consultancy projects across the entire digital signage landscape.

Prior to joining the company, he developed market insights from analysis experiences in the OPS Planning & Analytics team at Hewlett Packard. He also worked as a B2B specialist in the printing division at Samsung Electronics for managing overseas customers in China, Middle East, and Africa. Before that, he was also in a B2B division at Samsung Fine Chemicals for electronic materials including LCD and PDP Prism film. Tay has a Bachelor’s of Science in chemical engineering from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.

Jeff Lin, Associate Director, Tablet and Notebook PC, Desktop Monitor, TV

Jeff Lin is a longtime analyst and researcher in the field of displays, having previously worked at DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the global display market. At DisplaySearch, he worked as an analyst covering Taiwan's display market and was responsible for market research and analysis of the PC monitor value chain and large-area panel roadmap.

Before DisplaySearch, Jeff gained valuable experience handling panel sourcing and desktop monitor market analysis at BenQ Corporation. Prior to that, he served as a key monitor account sales manager at Samsung Electronics Taiwan, where he formed key relationships with leading PC monitor company and OEMs in the country. Before Samsung, he was an engineer at Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), where he led TV panel development projects and planned TV panel roadmaps.

Jeff earned his bachelor's degree in environmental engineering from National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and his Master of Business Administration from National Chengchi University, Taiwan.

Kimi Lin, Senior Analyst, Omdia

Kimi Lin is a Senior Analyst for Touch Technologies at Omdia. Based in China, Kimi joined the research team at Omdia in September 2016, focusing on touch panels and China’s small/medium display markets. Previously, Kimi was a Senior Analyst at Tianma Group, where he spent over 2 years in LCD and AMOLED Market Research. He also oversaw the China FPD industry market at the Topology Research Institute for over 5 years. Kimi has a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a Master’s degree in Microelectronics from Shanghai University, China.

Ken Park, Senior Research Manager

Ken Park specializes in TV set research and in managing analysts for desktop monitor, notebook and tablet, smartphone, and digital signage in the Asia Pacific region. He draws from years of industry experiences which range from engineering to marketing and sales, adding market insights from his research experiences.

Ken joined the company in November 2014, when Omdia acquired DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the global display market. At DisplaySearch, he served as a senior analyst in charge of TVs, desktop monitors, public displays, as well as notebook PCs and tablets. Before DisplaySearch, Ken was in marketing and sales in the visual display division at Samsung Electronics. In that position, he directed demand forecasting, sales strategic planning, pricing, product planning, supply chain management, competitive analysis, and marketing communications, contributing its achievement of the number one market share.

Prior to that, Ken was a software engineer at Samsung where he developed digital TV applications and learned mass production manufacturing processes. He has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Kookmin University in Seoul, Korea.

Ricky Park, Senior Principal Analyst, Omdia

Ricky Park currently leads the LCD research team, which has published more than 15 syndicated reports covering the large-area TFT-LCD panel market and all other applications utilizing larger-sized panels. He also serves as project manager for dozens of high-value industry feasibility studies carried out for Fortune 500 companies.

Ricky was one of the main developers of the LCD research practice, where he applied his unique methodologies, processes, and network capabilities to expand the TFT-LCD research business into its current form. He has conducted numerous analytical studies of key markets, specializing in various technologies and applications of the electronics value chain industry.  

Ricky received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea.

Jay Shao, Senior Analyst, Omdia

Jay Shao covers market research on AMOLED panel display technology.

Before joining the company, Jay was at EverDisplay Optronics—also known as Hehui Optoelectronics—in Shanghai, where he worked for six years in OLED R&D, flexible display design, and new products. He holds a doctorate in material science from the South China University of Technology in Guangdong, China.

Robin Wu, Principal Analyst, Large Display

Mr. Robin Wu is a Principal Analyst at Omdia. Previously he worked at DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the global display market. At DisplaySearch, he served as a PC and TFT analyst, specializing in trend analysis of China's PC, monitor, and panel markets. He also acted as vice chair of the VESA monitor task group in 2010 and has focused on monitor/panel standardization since early 2009.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Mr. Wu spent nearly seven years at the leading IT brand IBM/Lenovo. There, he focused on monitor/TFT business, delivering industry-leading green ThinkVision products and managing panel sourcing and qualifications. In addition to providing support to the desktop/AIO business, he acted as a liaison in the industry, building strong relationships with leading PC monitor OEMs in China. Mr. Wu has a bachelor's degree in Mechanics & Electronics and a master's degree in Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.

Deborah Yang, Director, Omdia

Deborah Yang is a director at Omdia. Previously she was with DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting in the global display market. At DisplaySearch, she worked as director of Taiwan and China display market research.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Deborah spent more than 10 years at Royal Phillips Electronics. There, she held the position of business intelligence manager in the flat panel purchasing department of the Philips CE Business Group. Before this position, she worked in the displays project management group where, as a project leader, she developed and formulated supply know-how for LCD monitors and televisions.

Deborah received an award for her role as senior market analyst at Philips and was a nominee for the Royal Philips Electronics PD PBE Best Practice Award. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Preston University, Wyoming, United States, and a bachelor's degree in economics from SooChow University, Taiwan.
