Session 1: Big Brother or Best Friend?

Businesses have always harnessed information and technology to achieve the highest level of profitable sales from their customers. In the digital age, airline and hotel yield management systems are becoming ever-more sophisticated, using personal data, freely attained through points cards and cookie trails, to shape price and service offerings. Would you be surprised to hear that suppliers can adjust price according the device you use to access the web? Or based on other webpages you have viewed? Travel providers can exploit personal data that could deliver a better experience for business travellers, but with what impact on corporate travel programme goals?

Session 2: Using Big Data for Intelligent Sourcing

Any organisation buying corporate travel products and services on a significant scale is generating gazillions of bytes of data. Trying to corral, sift through and then make sense of where money is being spent, by whom and what value that represents for organisations is where the breakthrough is set to come. People with advanced analytical skills can share what can be learnt from Big Data: how it can be presented in different ways to achieve better outcomes through intelligent sourcing. We will explore how some of the new techniques are moving on from the concept of Big Data into delivering practical ways to apply better sourcing strategies to support travel programmes.

Session 3: Helping Travellers to do the Right Thing

When it comes to controlling costs, a company's relationship with its own travellers is arguably more important than its supplier deals. Relationships enable companies to influence both the number of trips taken and how much travellers spend while travelling. We will explore the four phases of this new kind of traveller management: planning, communication, influencing and reviewing. We'll share with you real-world examples of how Accenture, Coca-Cola, IKEA and Nokia have applied behavioural sciences to lower traveller spending.
