David Hsieh, Senior Director, Omdia

David Hsieh is a noted expert in research and analysis of the TFT LCD, and LCD TV value chain for Mainland China and Taiwan. As head of the Displays team, he oversees the division’s end-to-end research on displays, covering the supply chain, materials and components, supply-and-demand dynamics, pricing and cost modeling, revenue and shipment forecasts, and emerging technologies.

In an earlier stint at DisplaySearch, he led the company’s primary research and forecasting on the global display market while concurrently serving as vice president of the greater China market. David also worked at HannStar Display, a leading manufacturer of TFT LCD panels, as a key account manager, production planner, and production engineer for the HannStar TFT LCD module line.

David belongs to a distinguished circle of only 11 Technology Fellows named by IHS Markit during his time at the company, an honor that recognizes his deep expertise and exceptional standing within the analyst community.

He is a graduate of Chung-Yuan Christian University in Taiwan, and has a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering.

Paul Chen, Ph.D, VP and CTO, GIS

Dr. Chen got his Ph.D of Eletro-optics engineering in National Chiao Tung University in 2000. After that, he joined AUO and was in charge of Liquid-crystal technology dept., TV panel marketing div., Array/CF technology div., Advanced research div., and Interface device BU/Touch solution BU. He has good experiences in FPD industry with full practice and scope.

He worked for GIS from 2013 as the VP/CTO. He was ever in charge of the non-A BU as well and led the teams delivering advanced touch display module, forcetouch module and ultrasonic fingerprint sensors to customers. Recently, he also profiled the future AIoT market and needs, leading the team for AIoT sensor solution development.

Jeff Lin, Research and Analysis Associate Director, Omdia

Jeff Lin covers a wide array of mobile, consumer, and connected devices that have become universal touchpoints of daily computing for consumers all over the world. Jeff brings extensive knowledge and experience to his research on tablets, notebook PCs, desktop monitors, and TVs, for which he produces various market briefs, trackers, and databases.

In his previous work at DisplaySearch, his scope as an analyst covered the display market in Taiwan, as well as market research and analysis of the PC monitor value chain and large-sized display panels. Prior to DisplaySearch, Jeff gained valuable experience handling panel sourcing and desktop monitor market analysis at BenQ Corporation.

Jeff has also worked at Samsung Electronics Taiwan, where he formed key relationships with Taiwan’s leading PC monitor brands and OEMs. He was also an engineer at Chunghwa Picture Tubes, where he led development projects on TV panels and TV panel roadmaps.

A graduate of Taiwan’s National Cheng Kung University with a degree in environmental engineering, Jeff also holds an MBA from National Chengchi University, among the most prominent and prestigious universities in Taiwan.

Calvin Hsieh, Director, Omdia

Calvin Hsieh is a Director within Omdia, a leader in primary research and forecasting on the touch panel and emerging user interface market. In an earlier stint at DisplaySearch, he served as research director. He has more than a decade of experience crafting strategies and managing product lines at leading display organizations across the globe. Prior to DisplaySearch, he was the product marketing director at Proview Electronics, one of the world's largest LCD monitor and TV manufacturers. Before DisplaySearch, he experienced as a project team manager at HannSpree, marketing director on e-commerce, and software developer on image processing and multimedia. Mr. Hsieh has a master's degree with a focus on human-computer interaction and user interface from National Chiao-Tung University, Taiwan.

Peter Su, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Peter Su conducts research on large-sized displays, tracking supply-and-demand dynamics, market trends, and product roadmaps on panels sized more than 9 inches measured diagonally and used in tablets, notebooks, monitors, and televisions.

Previously, Peter was at DisplaySearch, where he worked with large displays as well. At AU Optronics, he was in panel sales and strategic product marketing in the notebook PC and tablet business units. There, he was also involved in PC capacity planning, technology investment projects, and both upstream and downstream channels for panels and mobile PCs. Peter has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Victoria in Canada, and a master’s degree in business administration from Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Linda Lin, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Linda Lin covers large-sized TFT LCD panels and is in charge of survey reports involving the manufacturers and vendors of the notebook panel supply chain.

With her many years of working in the trade, Linda has developed first-rate relationships throughout the extensive network of contacts and connections in the display industry that she built over time.

Linda worked previously at LCD market research firm WitsView, leading the research on panels as well as on downstream products that included monitors and TVs. At the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute, Taiwan Chief Information and Communications Technology (ICT) market research group, she oversaw regional research for South and East Asia. It was during this time that she decided to make large-sized displays her main focus. Linda has a master’s degree in business administration from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology in Taiwan.

Stacy Wu, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Stacy Wu is responsible for mobile and emerging display research at Omdia with a primary focus on automotive and industrial displays. Stacey has more than 10 years of experience in conducting market research and consultancy on the display technology markets. Prior to her role, Stacey was the senior analyst for large area display research and had built solid and comprehensive display industry connections and networks. Before joining Omdia, Stacey was the section manager of market intelligence in Delta Electronic's corporate marketing team and a market analyst in Philip Multi Media Display. She holds MSc in International Marketing from University of Strathclyde and Bachelor of Business Administration from National Cheng-chi University.

Deborah Yang, Director, Omdia

Deborah Yang is a director at Omdia. Previously she was with DisplaySearch, a leader in primary research and forecasting in the global display market. At DisplaySearch, she worked as director of Taiwan and China display market research.

Prior to DisplaySearch, Deborah spent more than 10 years at Royal Phillips Electronics. There, she held the position of business intelligence manager in the flat panel purchasing department of the Philips CE Business Group. Before this position, she worked in the displays project management group where, as a project leader, she developed and formulated supply know-how for LCD monitors and televisions.

Deborah received an award for her role as senior market analyst at Philips and was a nominee for the Royal Philips Electronics PD PBE Best Practice Award. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Preston University, Wyoming, United States, and a bachelor's degree in economics from SooChow University, Taiwan.

Jason Hsu, Principal Analyst, Omdia

Jason Hsu is responsible for research on the display supply chain for tablets and notebooks.

With more than 15 years of industry experience, Jason has built a strong research network spanning brands, ODMs, and the value chain. He is recognized for the comprehensive and insightful advice he provides for his customers. Before joining the company in 2011, he worked as strategy planning manager at Acer, where he was in charge of product planning and competitive analysis.

Jason earned his master’s degree in business administration from National Cheng Kung University in Taiwan.
