Event Description

Introduction

The Baycrest Centre for Learning, Research and Innovation is proud to be hosting the inaugural conference of the Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care. The focus of the conference will be on innovative educational approaches to learning in long-term care settings with an emphasis on translating knowledge to practice.

The conference includes morning presentations by thought leaders in healthcare simulation and geriatric education. Morning and afternoon workshops on current educational innovations will provide participants with tools and experiential learning methods for direct application with staff and students in their own organizations. The closing plenary panel will explore how interprofessional geriatric competencies can be enhanced for unregulated and regulated care providers in long-term care.

Educational Objectives

At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

1.       1. Identify and take away tools to implement new educational approaches for staff and students in long-term care settings.
2. Describe current trends and identify emerging opportunities for geriatric education and interprofessional competencies in long-term care.
3. Discover the educational and program opportunities available through the three Ontario Centres for Learning, Research and Innovation in Long-Term Care.

Who should attend?

The conference is intended for all healthcare providers, educators, researchers and administrators working in long-term care settings with an interest in exploring new ways of engaging staff in learning new knowledge, skills and attitudes for application to practice. Long-term care, college and university educators and researchers, directors of care, managers, and direct care staff will benefit from the conference.
