"Lifestyle Medicine empowers individuals with the knowledge and life skills to make effective behavior changes that address the underlying causes of disease."

Our current practice of delivering healthcare is fragile and burdened by the rise in mostly preventable chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity-related diseases. The cost of care for these diseases is estimated to increase annually. This calls for a look at how we are managing these conditions.

For the stability of our healthcare infrastructure and patient health outcomes, we need to make a shift towards true preventative practices and support our providers in a paradigm shift.

This two-day event will be held via Webex, and is exclusively offered to Kaiser Permanente physicians and staff. Attendance will fulfill the American College of Lifestyle Medicine requirements for 10 hours of in-person hours.

Participants that have fulfilled all other certification requirements will have the opportunity to take the board certification exam virtually on Saturday October 17, 2020 at an exclusive KP 25% discounted rate (the exam fee is in addition to the fee for this live conference).  This conference will include a combination of general sessions, workshops, and panel discussions that will cover the following topics:

* Understanding Lifestyle Medicine
* Incorporating Lifestyle Medicine into Your Practice
* Successful Group Interventions
* Lifestyle Medicine Clinical Trial Outcomes
* Engaging your patient through Motivational Interviewing
* The Importance of Trauma Informed Care
* The Science of Sustained Behavior Change
* The Business Case for Lifestyle Medicine
