Peter Conrod, MBA, CMA, FCMA Vice President, Client and Business Strategy, Business Financial Services Royal Bank of Canada Peter Conrod has enjoyed a thirty-year career as a commercial banking professional with experience in international trade, credit structuring, risk management, and sales/marketing. He was appointed as a member of the executive team in 2002 with responsibility for RBC's commercial financial services activities in Atlantic Canada. In June 2011, Peter assumed the role as head of strategy for RBC's Commercial Financial Services in Toronto. |
Peter obtained his bachelor of commerce degree from Dalhousie University in 1977 and MBA degree from the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business in 1980. In 1999, when Peter obtained his CMA designation, he was the recipient of the E.L. Whitman Gold Medal for outstanding academic achievement in the CMA program. In addition to being a CMA, Peter was named a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB) in 1979.
A very active volunteer, Peter has served on many community and professional boards over the past 15 years. Some of the organizations he’s been involved with, at the board level, include the Downtown Halifax Business Commission, Financial Executives International (FEI) Atlantic Chapter, the Canadian Progress Club, the Halifax Youth Foundation, and the YMCA of Greater Halifax-Dartmouth. Peter has also been very active with the United Way, the University of Kings College, the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron, and as treasurer for his church.
Peter continues to find time to give back to his society at the governance level, currently serving as second vice-chair of the board of directors, and as a member of the CPA Steering Committee (an executive committee for the CMA-CA merger in Nova Scotia). Peter has been a mentor to CMA candidates in the past as well as a CMA Report to the Board judge. At the national level, Peter has acted as a spokesperson on a variety of issues, most recently on the merger of the accounting profession in Canada, and has served on the National Certification Board.

An ambassador to the designation, Anna has encouraged colleagues and friends to purse the CMA designation. She has volunteered with the society as a Report to the Board judge and a candidate mentor, participated in panel discussions to advocate for CMA, and was a speaker at the inaugural Canadian joint conference offered by CMA Canada and the Consortium for Advanced Management International, an international consortium of industry, government, and research organizations working together to develop the mechanisms that management needs to more effectively address critical business issues.
A strong supporter of her community, Anna has been very involved with the Brigadoon Children's Camp Society. While a board member, she was involved with the creation of the Brigadoon Children's Camp that opened in the Annapolis Valley in August 2011, creating the opportunity for more than 900 extraordinary children with chronic illness to experience the joy of being ordinary at camp. Anna is also involved, at the strategic level, with the Sacred Heart School of Halifax, NSCC, the Canadian Cancer Society, Saint Benedict Parish, and the Canadian Association of Management Consultants.

RAdm (ret.) Bryn Weadon,
CMM, CD, PLog, CMA, FCMA Former Assistant Deputy Minister Finance and Corporate Services Canadian Forces/Department of National Defence Rear-Admiral Weadon has experienced a tremendous career, including running the recruiting system for Canada’s military, managing the costs of military missions, working with the United Nations on equipment costs, and becoming the first serving military officer to be appointed substantively to Assistant Deputy Minister of Finance since it was created in 1972. |
Honouring an exemplary career in financial management and comptrollership, Bryn Weadon, CMM, CD, CMA, PLog, received the first CMA-CIPFA Lifetime Achievement Award. Awarded at the discretion of the awards committee, RAdm Weadon, who retired in June 2009, was selected as that year’s winner for a distinguished career providing financial management and comptrollership for one of the largest, most challenging, and most scrutinized public budgets.
Byrn has contributed greatly to his society. While a member of CMA Ontario, he assisted with recruiting candidates both within the military/DND civilian community as well as in local Ottawa Universities. He was also a guest speaker for CMA Ontario’s Executive Program in Ottawa. While a member of CMA Nova Scotia, Bryn was a member of the board of directors and the Halifax chapter executive. He was a marker for the former CMA Nova Scotia Tax Course, a moderator in the CMA program prior to the launch of the Strategic Leadership Program, and worked with CMA Canada on the development of the Strategic Leadership Program, focusing on Organizational Behaviour. Currently, Byrn is a moderator in the Atlantic and Caribbean executive CMA programs, and was the recipient of the E.L.Whitman Gold Medal award for highest marks in Nova Scotia in 1986.
A strong volunteer, he works with the Financial Management Institute, the Logistics Institute (PLog designation), a volunteer with the Royal Military College Foundation and the Royal Military Club of Canada, and others.
