Hispanic Heritage Month

Adelante is Dell’s Hispanic Employee Resource Group. Dedicated to the true essence of diversity at Dell, Adelante seeks to celebrate the contributions made by Hispanics at Dell in an effort to aspire all to greater heights. The organization seeks to share what is best about the Latin culture with everyone and to give back to the community that so generously supports our growth. Adelante looks to accomplish all of this in the open and amiable way of the Latin culture.

Although one might first assume that the employee resource group is only for Hispanics, this could not be further from the truth. Adelante is open to people of all nationalities seeking to interact with Dell’s Hispanic leaders; to those interested in learning more about the Hispanic culture; or to those simply interested in celebrating the diversity of the Dell community. The group sponsors a number of speaking events with broad appeal and on topics that are germane to our times and to Dell; as well as hosts a number of fun and entertaining events, such as its Cinco de Mayo Celebration, Network nights and salsa clinics. In addition, the group coordinates in conjunction with other Dell organizations a number of fund raising events for local charities and sponsors programs aimed at the contributing to Dell’s competitive advantage, such as Livestrong and The ERG-wide Leadership program.

Hispanic heritage month began in 1968 under the Lyndon B. Johnson administration as a one week celebration to

recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans. In 1988 President Ronald Reagan expanded the celebration

to cover the 30-day period from September 15-October 15.   The date September 15 marks the anniversary of

independence for five Latin American countries - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
