LUNCHEON (1 CPE Hour)

Topic:  Enhancing Your Leadership Skills Through Influence

Today, leaders must achieve their priorities and objectives collaboratively with and through people over whom they have no direct or positional authority. These non-positional leadership situations require that leaders use the only “authority” available to them: influence. This session will focus on techniques for developing your executive presence, building credibility and trust, and improving your capacity to influence and persuade. The session will benefit leaders at all levels regardless of title.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and model the appearance of a successful leader
  • Discuss communication do’s and don’ts utilizing candor, conviction, and genuineness
  • Determine different types of power and influence and discuss techniques for developing
  • Identify techniques for overcoming confidence breakers in the workplace
  • Complete a leadership assessment to identify potential leadership weaknesses

SEMINAR (2 CPE hours)

Topic: Why Do Good People Do Bad Things: It’s a Matter of Choice

“Why do good people do bad things?” we often ask ourselves. Yet faced with similar circumstances, would we have made the same choice? This session provides a look into ethical philosophies for both our personal and professional lives and discusses the values upon which our choices are based. Ethical behavior is more than mere knowledge of right and wrong but making the right choices for our profession and our organizations. Management and the board look to us as a standard of ethics and integrity. Are we meeting these obligations and “walking the talk.”
Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the difference between personal, professional and organizational ethics and the impact on internal controls.
  • Recognize the psychological theories for why good people do bad things and how to identify the warning signs.
  • Evaluate the role that values play in making ethical decisions.
  • Review the various types of red flags and how these indicators can help detect fraudulent behavior.
  • Determine ideas for strengthening corporate culture and deterring fraud.
