Litigation strategy and costs are inextricably linked. Building a detailed budget from the start produces better strategic decision-making by providing key stakeholders with the bottom-line information they need to effectively weigh their options. Accurate litigation budgets lead to better-informed settlement decisions, and can be an indispensable tool for managing multiple ongoing cases and predicting the cost of future litigation. They are also excellent for communicating strategy and risk to internal stakeholders such as board members and helping build trust between inside and outside counsel.

This seminar provides a series of steps to help you “win” the budget battle by collaborating with outside counsel to create effective litigation plans that serve as clear strategic road maps. You’ll learn to factor in staffing, phases of litigation and litigation tasks to produce accurate case assessments and budget estimates. We’ll also cover budget updates, tracking and after-action assessment, as well as how to effectively communicate costs within an organization and use budgets as templates for managing future litigation.
