The National Export Initiative:
The President refuses to sit on the sidelines and let jobs be created elsewhere when America still has the most innovative economy and the most productive workers in the world. And so, for the first time, the United States is launching a single, comprehensive strategy to promote American exports. It’s called the National Export Initiative (NEI); and it’s an ambitious effort to marshal the full resources of the United States government behind American businesses that sell their goods and services abroad.

As part of the president's NEI initiative the United States Department of Commerce Branch in Middletown, CT will be hosting the Global Trade Section of The SBIR & Global Trade Summit conference by holding international export tracks.

The Connecticut District Export Council
District Export Councils (DECs) which are affiliated with the U.S. Department of Commerce, date from 1973 when the President directed the Secretary of Commerce to establish DECs throughout the United States to stimulate greater participation in a national export effort. DECs are an organization of local community leaders appointed by the Secretary of Commerce whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice to companies seeking to expand international sales. DECs play a major role in the planning and coordination of export expansion activities of the U.S. Department of Commerce and serve as a communication link between the business community and the Department.
There are 51 DECs with more than 1,500 members in the United States and Puerto Rico. The Connecticut DEC (CT DEC) has 47 members and associate members. The CT DEC regularly invites interested international trade related organizations and businesses to its quarterly meetings.
The CT DEC proudly supports the SBIR & Global Trade Summit at Mohegan Sun Resort & Casino.
