Roberta Schwartz, Goodwill Central Texas, will inspire you with her journey to overcome a series of mistakes, addiction, and a criminal history to become Vice President of Corporate Compliance and Risk Management. Roberta joined Goodwill in 2005 as a Staffing Specialist for Goodwill Staffing Group. Within a year, she was promoted to Property Manager, Director in 2010, and now to Vice President in January 2014. During her tenure, Roberta has participated in building, renovating, or relocating over 30 Goodwill facilities and retail stores. She is now responsible for CARF and all compliance, procurement and contract review, real estate strategic planning, risk management and insurance.

This is a direct result of eroding margins within donated goods retail (DGR) programs whose E/R ratio increased from 75.15 to 82.96 percent. If these trends continue, more Goodwill organizations will find themselves in serious financial distress, which will impact the individuals we serve and potentially the overall Goodwill brand.
