Health & Vaccinations
Malaria: The Kruger National Park is designated as a malaria area and it is advisable to take malaria prophylaxy for the duration of your visit to the Lowveld. Please consult with your medical practitioner for advice on malaria and relevant vaccinations. Medical practitioner is available on site.
Climate
Skukuza Rest Camp (Kruger) normally receives rain during mid-summer (approx 353 mm of rain per year). The lowest rainfall occurs in June (0 mm). The average midday temperatures range from 24.5°C in July to 31.7°C in January. The region is the coldest during July when the mercury drops to 8.7°C on average during the night.
During ICRPMC 2018 September, the daily temperatures should be pleasant during the day (upper 20°C) and chilly in the evenings/early mornings (around 13-17 °C). It is advisable to bring a fleece or jacket and a warm hat for early morning game drives – although these can be purchased at the camp store.

Travel By Air
There are more than 760 international flights per week to Johannesburg International (OR Tambo) Airport. Please check Skyscanner or, for multiple destination flights, check Expedia to see which airlines can take you to South-Africa and what tickets would cost.
Please note that the Skukuza Airport (SZK) is the closest airport to Skukuza camp and the conference venue and is only a 10 minute road transfer away. We strongly recommend you book flights to Skukuza as a first option. The Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP) is NOT in the Kruger Park and is situated approx 1 ½ hours away from Skukuza Camp. Only book flights to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (MQP) if all flights to Skukuza Airport (SZK) are fully booked. |
Skukuza Airport (in the Kruger National Park and close to Skukuza rest camp)
From Johannesburg International (OR Tambo) Airport take a direct flight to Skukuzu Airport which is in the Kruger National Park. Two daily flights (45 minutes in duration) are available from Johannesburg to Skukuza Airport and one daily flight (2.5 hrs in duration) from Cape Town.

Transport from Skukuza Airport to Skukuza rest camp
Transportation can be booked online at R280.00 per person one way which include deliver of the luggage to the unit at Skukuza Camp. This is a service that can only be booked via the conference organisers as no taxi or shuttle serivce exist.
Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA)
There are many flights to choose from between OR Tambo (Johannesburg) and Kruger Mpumalanga (MQP) Airport. The transfer time from KMIA Airport to Skukuza camp is approximately 1.5 hrs. Please remember when booking these flights to remember the opening and closing times of the gates into the Kruger National Park. * Please note however that when booking the flights with us (africaMASSIVE) we do have special permission to operate outside the official hours.

Transport from KMIA (Nelspruit) to Skukuza rest camp
Transportation can be booked online at R850.00 per person one way which included deliver of the luggage to the unit at Skukuza Camp. When booking via the conference organiser there is no minimum persons required and gate times are not applicable.
Travel by car
Travel by car from Johannesburg International (OR Tambo) Airport to Skukuza rest camp. Cars can be hired at the airport in Johannesburg to drive to Skukuza rest camp. The distance is 450 km and the driving time will be approximately 6 to 8 hours. Toll fees are payable on the N4 when driving from Johannesburg to Skukuza. Please enter the Kruger National Park at the Kruger Gate, at the latest, 30 min before gate closing time and ensure that you arrive at Skukuza rest camp between opening and closing times.
Car Rental
Car rental can be booked via the conference organiser for delivery at either Skukuza Airport, Skukuza Camp or Nelspruit Airport. The conference organiser DOES NOT charge a delivery fee for the vehicles at either Skukuza Airport or Camp provided the car is returned to the same location. Road Transfers
The conference organiser offers road transfers in airconditioned Minivans or small coaches from and to Skukuza Camp and the Johannesburg International Airport: OR Tambo.
The dates offered are on days prior the the start of the main conference and departure time is normally at 10.00 hrs from and to the venue, however if a group booking is made of 4 people or more a private time as per the request of the delegates will be awarded. The current rate is R1800.00 per person one way for these transfers.
Please note that a minimum of 4 confirmed passengers are required to confirm the group transfer vehicle. A surcharge will be applicable should we not have at least 4 passengers booked on your required date. The event organizers will contact you closer to the time should we not meet the minimum required passenger numbers.
Late arrivals
Late arrivals are only allowed in cases of emergency (proof and valid reason required) until 21:00 for guests with pre-booked accommodation at certain camps within 10 km distance from the relevant gate. An extra late arrival fee will be charged which is payable at the gate. No late arrivals are allowed at Pafuri, Phalaborwa or Phabeni gates or any other gates for camps more than 10 km away. The late arrival fee for Skukuza camp is R500, valid from 1 November 2015.

Kruger Daily Conservation Fee
Members of SANParks' loyalty programme WILD do not pay conservation fees provided that proof of Identity and their WILD card are shown on arrival.
