Sam Windett
Head of Policy and Communications
ERSA


Sam is Head of Policy and Communications at ERSA. Previously, Sam was Head of the Policy and Public Affairs team at the public service provider A4e, working there from 2010 to 2015. Prior to that, she led Action for Children’s parliamentary work in Westminster for three years, particularly supporting them in their rebrand from National Children’s Homes and winning ‘best stand’ at Labour party conference. Sam started the first five years of her career in international consultancy, becoming an Account Manager in Hill and Knowlton’s public affairs team specialising in VCSE, health and public sector clients. Before that, Sam worked for MPs in Ottawa and Westminster, covering their parliamentary and constituency offices during the 2000 / 2001 General Elections.

Simon Ashworth
Chief Policy Officer
AELP


Simon is our Chief Policy Officer, with additional responsibility for overseeing AELP’s Public Affairs and Research & Development functions. Simon sits on a number of external groups, including the ESFA’s Provider Reference Group and has worked in the sector since 2002.
Prior to joining AELP in January 2017, Simon was Director of New Products and Services at Babington Group, helping launch an ATA and was instrumental in the sale of the business from Bridges Ventures to new owners RJD Partners in April 2016. Whilst at Babington, Simon was leading on the Apprenticeship Reforms, working on a number of different Employer Trailblazer Groups, engaging with and mobilising a number of levy paying employers in readiness for May 2017. Before joining Babington Group, Simon spent three years at the Digital Youth Academy (DYA). The DYA was an innovative and entrepreneurial start up training provider specialising in leading on the development of Social Media and Digital Marketing curriculum. Whilst at DYA Simon worked with the likes of Pearson, City & Guilds and the Tech Partnership in developing new standards and associated elearning materials.
