Program Overview
Goodwill Industries International’s (GII’s) Delegate Assembly is the annual business meeting of Goodwill® members. It is also an opportunity for Goodwill CEO's, their board leaders and team members to come together to challenge thinking, participate in debate and network. Delegate Assembly also celebrates achievements from across the Goodwill enterprise during the Recognition and Shining Stars Banquets.
Social Enterprise in Action
Goodwill Industries® is one of the nation’s top five most valuable and recognized nonprofit brands as well as a leading social services enterprise. Throughout the Goodwill movement, we provided employment training, job placement services and other community services to 4.2 million people in North America in 2011 and we have earned the trust and support of 79 million donors in North America. But Goodwill founder Edgar Helms said that we should be dissatisfied with our work until every handicapped and unfortunate person in your community has an opportunity to develop to his fullest usefulness and enjoy a maximum of abundant living,
Miami provides the perfect backdrop to explore the Goodwill social enterprise in action. During this year’s Delegate Assembly you will have the opportunity to tour the Goodwill Industries of South Florida corporate headquarters which houses several contracts, the executive offices, a retail store and a flag store. You will also have the opportunity to experience different sessions that will ignite your passion to serve the Goodwill movement including Protecting the Goodwill Social Enterprise Through Competitive Analysis, Middle Skills Market, Donate Movement Update, and more.
During our kickoff general session, Peter McLaughlin, who spoke at the 2012 Conference of Executives will introduce us to Emergenetics, a profiling instrument that will give you insights on building relationships, capitalizing on personal strengths, working effectively with diverse groups of people, maximizing your group’s brainpower and upgrading presentations. GII board chair, Paul Chapin, will host a panel discussion between Hyong Ok Jang, Chairman and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Korea (GIK), and Marcos Gonçalves, founder of the Association for Valuing and Promoting Persons with Disabilities (AVAPE) in Brazil, focusing on untapped opportunities, challenges they face and the vision for the impact the Goodwill mission. And, of course we will celebrate those people who have made a significant contribution to the Goodwill enterprise during our Recognition and Shining Stars Banquets.
The team at Goodwill Industries of South Florida has planned various tours and trips throughout the conference, including an Everglades Trip, Tour of Vizcaya Mansion, Guided Tour of South Beach, the Seaquarium and more. Miami Night out will be a Beach Party at the famous Eden Roc Hotel. There are also several activities that you can explore on your own.
