| Connie Bezzina Professor Academic Medical Center Connie Bezzina obtained her PhD in Genetics from the University of Malta in 1998. She then joined the Department of Experimental Cardiology at the Academic Medical Center (Amsterdam) and was appointed Professor of Molecular Cardiogenetics in 2012. Her research focuses on the identification of genetic factors causing inherited cardiac rhythm disorders associated with sudden cardiac death. | |
| Antoine Bondue Professor Erasme Hospital, Université Libre de Bruxelles Professor Antoine Bondue received his medical degree from the “Université Libre de Bruxelles” (Belgium) in 2001. During his fellowship in cardiology, he studied the molecular mechanisms governing early cardiovascular development in the laboratory of Cédric Blanpain (Interdisciplinary Research Institute – Free University of Brussels – ULB, Brussels) from 2005 to 2012. He acquired his PhD degree in 2009, and performed a postdoctoral fellowship thereafter supported by the Belgian FNRS. His works addressed the role of the early mesodermal transcription factor Mesp1 as a key regulator of cardiovascular progenitor specification, and characterized the cellular and molecular hierarchy acting during the initial steps of cardiovascular development. By this work Professor Antoine Bondue acquired an expertise in cardiovascular development and in stem cell biology. As a cardiologist, he further worked in clinical cardiovascular genetics, and run a medical activity centered on cardiovascular genetics within the Centre for Human Genetics of the Free University of Brussels (ULB, Brussels). Professor Antoine Bondue is now the head of the Department of Cardiology of the Erasme Hospital in Brussels (ULB, Brussels). His main research interests are now focused on congenital heart disease, cardiovascular genetics and pulmonary hypertension. He is the current president of the Belgian Working Group on Adult Congenital Heart Disease (Belgian Society of Cardiology). He is a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology. | |

| Jan De Potter Doctor UZ Ghent Jan De Pooter (°1984) graduated as cardiologist at the University of Ghent in 2015. He continued his education with a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University hospital of Ghent (2016) and AZ Sint-Jan Bruges (2017). His clinical works focuses on cardiac pacing and invasive diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology. His research focuses on electrocardiography in patients with cardiac resynchronization therapy and mapping and ablation of atrial arrhythmias. Worked as a fellow at Danish hospitals until 2004, and after one year in Herzzentrum Leipzig had a position at the Department of Cardiology, Aarhus University Hospital, where he has been a consultant cardiologist since 2007. Appointed professor of electrophysiology at Aarhus University, Denmark in 2011. | Frank Provenier Doctor AZ Maria Middelares I received my medical training at the University of Ghent, and obtained my degree as M.D. in 1988. In 1993, I was recognized as a medical specialist in cardiology. I also obtained a certificate from the theoretical interuniversity course "Intensive Care". Afterwards, I gained an additional qualification in implantation of cardiac devices and electrophysiology in the UZ Ghent (1993-1996, Prof. Dr. Luc Jordaens) and OLV hospital in Aalst (1996-2006, Prof. Dr. Pedro Brugada). In 1998, I bundled the results of my research into the thesis "Appropriate Pacing Therapy in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation". With this, I obtained the diploma of Doctor of Medical Sciences (Ph.D.). In 1996, I started the electrophysiological laboratory in AZ Maria Middelares in Ghent, where a team of electrophysiologists conducts investigations and ablations, as well as implants of pacemakers and defibrillators. Since 2014, I am chief of the department of cardiology and a member of the AZ Maria Middelares Medical Board. I practice general cardiology, with additional expertise in rhythm disorders. | |
| Helmut Pürerfellner Professor Ordensklinkum Linz I am the Head of the Department for Invasive Electrophysiology since its foundation in 1991. Our center is the busiest EP Center in Austria incorporating a dedicated EP lab where around 500 ablations are performed annually. The EP Group is renowned for its excellence and leading position in both clinical EP as well as in EP research. In addition, we have a longstanding and dedicated activity in national and international societies (EHRA, HRS). I am the current Vice-Chair of the Scientific Program Committee for the upcoming Europace Meeting 2018 in Barcelona. My main scientific interest is catheter ablation and AF monitoring. | |
| Bruno Schwagten Doctor ZNA Middelheim Bruno Schwagten works as a cardiologist-electrophysiologist at the Middelheim hospital in Antwerp, Belgium. He is trained in working with all common tools used in electrophysiology such as cryotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, CARTO, Ensite and Rhythmia systems, but his major expertise is performing electrophysiologic procedures remotely using the Magnetic Navigation System. He is a board member of the nucleus of the Belgium Heart Rhythm Association and co-founder of the Society of Cardiac Robotic Navigation.
