2017 Travel Medicine Symposium

WELCOME!

A message from the Chairman and Planning Committee

We are proud to invite you to the 10th National Kaiser Permanente Travel Medicine and Global Health Symposium. After a 6 year hiatus we are happy to be back with a new, expanded 2 day symposium and welcome both former conference attendees as well as new attendees. All nurses, advance level practitioners, pharmacists, physicians and others are welcome.

We live in a complex global world and regardless of whether you personally practice travel medicine or work abroad in global health, we are all touched by emerging illnesses and the migration of people. Our planning committee has put together a dynamic agenda of nationally recognized faculty, from both within the various Kaiser Permanente regions as well as outside faculty, who will share their expertise and interest in travel medicine and global health. Focus will be on best practice methods, new recommendations and technology, as well cultural competency and safety. Multiple small group sessions are offered throughout the day to engage both the novice attendee who wants to just learn the basics as well as the experienced travel medicine or global health practitioner there to network with colleagues and share practice tips and travel stories.
Top 5 Reasons to Attend The Symposium:
  • Learn where and how you can volunteer for medical work abroad
  • Discover the most up to date information on emerging illnesses like Zika and Chikungunya
  • Become comfortable with vaccine recommendations for travelers
  • Sharpen your clinical skills when ill travelers return home
  • Learn how to best prepare both routine and medically complex travelers as well as yourself for a safe and enjoyable trip abroad

We encourage you to attend this fun educational opportunity, which will provide a relaxing and collegial atmosphere at the beautiful Marriott Newport Beach in Orange County, California. Come and learn from friends, colleagues and experts, share best practices, and discover new opportunities. Take that next step in learning how to work abroad. Enjoy the picturesque Newport Beach and Balboa Island area or get away to other great Orange County destinations like Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm, and the South Coast Plaza. Discounted hotel rates are available for the entire weekend for those interested in an extended getaway.

This activity qualifies for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM

We look forward to seeing you there.
