Kelly is a NASA Education Professional Development Specialist at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. She works to support education in eleven East Coast states ranging from Virginia to Maine. Kelly started at NASA as an Informal Educator, which coordinated various programs and events intended to inspire teachers, students and families in grades K-8 in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) while bringing together NASA missions, engineers, and scientists at NASA Goddard’s Visitor Center. Prior to joining the education team at NASA, Kelly’s professional career consisted of 10 years of teaching Earth and Physical Sciences in various school systems and grade levels in the state of New Jersey. The districts have ranged from urban to suburban, as well as private and public schools. Outside of teaching in the United States, Kelly spent time during the summer as a volunteer English teacher in Costa Rica. She has pursued a career in teaching STEM and professional development workshops for NASA and has earned a Master’s degree in Science Leadership and Management. | |
Dorian taught for 33 years across multiple grade levels and with diverse groups of students. She was selected to head the science department for a new middle school program that focused on astronomy and aerospace technology. Dorian achieved her National Board Certification in Science, was an Einstein Fellow finalist, and served on many educational projects with NSTA, JHU, MD Space Grant, and several other organizations. She has a B.S. in General and Special Education from the University of Maryland, a M.S. in Special Education at the Early Childhood level from the University of Houston, a second M.S. from Johns Hopkins University in Teaching Earth/Space Sciences, and some doctoral level work in Science Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland. | |
Brian Campbell is a Senior NASA Earth Science Education and Communication Specialist at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. In the fifteen plus years at NASA, Brian has led the education campaigns for several satellite missions and programs including the ICESat satellite mission, the Landsat Image Mosaic of Antarctica, the Coastal Observations program, and the Laboratory for Hydrospheric Processes. Currently, Brian is the GLOBE ENSO Student Research Campaign Lead, the GLOBE/SMAP mission collaboration lead, ICESat-2 mission education lead, and the NASA Wallops Flight Facility POC for Earth Science education and communication. Prior to coming to NASA in 2001, Brian was a high school Physical Science, Earth & Space Science, and Environmental Science teacher in Cambridge, Maryland. | |
