About the TFWG

The Transport Facilitation Working Group (TFWG) was set up in April 2014
.

The committee is composed of experts including former Chairs of the International Steering Committee on Denials of Shipment of Radioactive Material (ISC-DOS) and representatives of interested Member States. TFWG’s current members are as follows:

The principle functions of TFWG are:
  • To assemble credible data regarding the denial of shipment of radioactive materials and to chart trends
  • To identify major issues affecting the timely shipment of radioactive materials, to determine root causes, and propose solutions to IAG and individually to the IMO and ICAO Secretariats for review
  • To provide reports to IAG on the status of denial/delay issues on a global and regional basis.  
  • To develop communication material that explains the need for Cl. 7 transport, shows the impact of denials, affirms the good safety record of shipping Cl. 7, and publicises success stories
  • To provide comment on training material relating to safe and secure transport of radioactive materials to help ensure that the element of denial of shipment is included
