THE WEATHER

Is variable all year round and this includes…RAIN! Average highs are high 60’s with lows in mid 50’s and often rainy. Pack accordingly for variable conditions in temperature and precipitation.

If you are interested in expanding your trip outside of the event dates- suggest Lower Queen Anne (located by the Space Needle), Capitol Hill, or Downtown as great places to stay. Choosing accommodations central to public transportation is essential and helpful. Some additional resources are listed below, including public transit information to assist in planning. There are some great bike rides, walking tours and opportunities to sightsee in and around Lake Washington as well.
Freemont, Wallingford, and Greenwood are lovely neighborhoods. Discovery Park, Lincoln Park and Steward Park are great spots for in-town hiking. The Burke-Gilman Trail, Seattle Waterfront and Ballard Locks are also fantastic bike rides.

HIKING

For great hiking around the region, the Washington Trails Association is a great resource.
North Bend is very close to Seattle with many trails of varying intensity. Mount Si, Cougar Mountain, Tiger Mountain and Snow Lake provide great day hiking under ten miles.
Cycling
The Cascade Bicycle Club's website is a great resource for routes, including a terrain description.
Gasworks Park is a central location for rides from the north side of Lake Union. There are many routes around the city which may appeal to you including Alki Beach, Myrtle Edwards Park, Green Lake Park, Discovery Park and Lake Sammamish. Whidbey, Bainbridge and Vashon Islands are quick ferry rides away for scenic bike rides or simple day-trips.
