2019 Kaiser Permanente National Oncology Symposium

Welcome

The Kaiser Permanente National Oncology Planning Committee would like to invite you to the second annual National Oncology Symposium, November 8-9, at the Omni Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.  This interdisciplinary conference is designed to bring together physicians, advanced practice providers, scientists, administrators and all involved in the care and research for patients with cancer from across the Kaiser Permanente national regions

This is a very exciting time in oncology. The scientific understanding of cancer biology is rapidly being translated from the lab to clinic adding to the complexity of defining disease and providing treatment. Clinicians have rapidly growing number of treatments including novel cytotoxic medications, targeted treatments, immunotherapies and innovations in surgical techniques and radiation therapy with which to treat patients.

Each year approximately 50,000 patients across Kaiser Permanente are diagnosed with cancer and are touched by a multitude of dedicated caregivers. Our complicated patients require exceptional care coordination so each receives the right treatment at the right time while receiving the personal care and attention he or she deserves.  Our clinicians have incredible passion and expertise in caring for patients. We have a robust clinical trials infrastructure that ensures our physicians have access to cutting edge treatment approaches and our patients have access to novel therapies. Additionally, each or you has insights in how best to incorporate the rapid diagnostic and therapeutic changes in our profession into treatment for our patients. Maximizing the opportunities made possible by our integrated technology is essential so we may continue to collaborate and learn from each other.

In our rapidly changing field it will take the contributions of clinicians, administrators, and many others to be sure we continue to give the best possible care to our patients. We hope the two days we spend together this November will help educate you as to what is possible in the KP system and engage you in helping to develop our future. If you are involved in Research, Quality, or Program Development, please consider submitting an abstract of your work for consideration as a a poster/oral presentation during the meeting.

We hope to see you there!
