2019 Internal Medicine Symposium

WELCOME!

A Message from the Chairs…

We invite you to join us for the upcoming SCPMG 62nd Annual Raymond M. Kay, MD Internal Medicine Symposium on September 20, 2019. Thank you for your past and current support of this fine tradition.

Our planning committee has worked hard to assemble an array of distinguished faculty and an exceptional educational program that will address competence, performance gaps, as well as patient outcomes in Internal Medicine. Our overall theme this year is Pain Management, with additional topics to address the needs in your busy practice and pique your intellectual curiosity.

Featured this year:

  • How are we doing in California in combating the Opioid Crisis?
  • Let's Talk Cannabis: What is the science behind medical cannabis? How does passage of Proposition 64 affect our practice? What's the harm?
  • What's the latest on the use of biologics? What side effects are we looking for in patients using these agents?
  • Designer Genes: Direct-to-Consumer Genetics testing 101
  • Motivational Interviewing and Drug Diversion: Did grandma forget to take her pain medication or was there drug diversion?
  • Need injections? Joint and Tender points injection skills to take back to the office.
  • What are the alternative modalities for treating neuropathic pain?
  • Resident research poster presentations
  • And much more!

We will continue our time-honored tradition of celebrating your fellow internists in the Internist of the Year Lunch Award ceremony.

See you there!
John P. Martin, MD, FACP, AAHIVS and Kim H. Tran, MD, FACP
