Measuring Basic Exposure and Risk Assessment Parameters
Fundamentals of Human Factors and Ergonomics (ERG100) and Physical Ergonomics and Human Factors (ERG120) or equivalent field experience recommended.
  • Review of physical exposures and measuring techniques
    • Defining an exertion
    • Measuring force
    • Summarizing posture
    • Distance and duration
  • Hands-On Technique Lab: Applying measurement skills in construction, warehousing, and packaging tasks
Thursday, July 11th: 8 AM - 5 PM, Includes Deli Lunch
Updates in Ergonomics
Physical Ergonomics and Human Factors (ERG120) and Cognitive Ergonomics and Human Factors (ERG130) or equivalent field experience recommended. 
  • The New 2018 ACGIH TLV for Hand Activity (includes Hands-on Technique Lab)
  • Preventing Fatigue: Calculating maximum acceptable exertions and recovery for UE and MMH tasks (includes Hands-on Technique Lab)
  • Exoskeletons: Assessing application in the workplace 
 
Friday, July 12th: 8 AM - 5 PM, Includes Deli Lunch
The Basics of Design: Applying the Design Process to Mitigate Risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders
Evidence Based Practice (ERG110) and Prevention Through Design (ERG140) or equivalent field experience recommended.  
  • Utilizing anthropometric and strength data
  • The design process
  • Introduction to CAD (Fusion 360)
  • Prototype usability and evaluation
  • Preventing errors
