2019 Diabetes Symposium
 
Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants should be able to:

  1. Apply evidence-based  knowledge to the latest popular consumer diabetes “trends” to improve patients’ understanding of the condition (Plenary 1)
  2. Utilize alternative medications for diabetes in the proper context to lessen the risk of a major CV event, renal failure and re-hospitalization (Plenary 2)*
  3. Use appropriate combinations of oral anti-diabetic agents and institute prandial bolus insulin when basal insulin therapy is inadequate. (Plenary 3)*
  4. Use current evidence-based information to prevent pre-diabetes and diabetes (Plenary 4)
  5. Use effective communication techniques to improve clinical collaboration between physicians and clinical care teams to improve overall diabetes care. (Breakout A1/B1)
  6. Identify what areas of diabetes care management triggers diabetic patients into diabetes distress; and offer solutions or support in these challenging areas (Breakout A2/B2)





Accreditation
Physicians - The Southern California Permanente Medical Group is accredited by the California Medical Association (CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Nurses and Physician Assistants – Attendees may report up to 6.00 hours toward continuing education requirements for license renewal. ‘CME’ can be written in lieu of the provider number on all licensure renewal applications.

Registered Dieticians:  RD’s and RN’s will be provided a certificate of attendance upon completion and submission of the Program Evaluation,.  It is the RD's responsibility to track and obtain the CEU credits through their personal Professional Development process.

CLS CEUs (Clinical Laboratory Scientists):  this symposium is approved for 6 CEU's for Laboratory Personnel (CLS, MLT and Phlebotomists).   Program number 01-1804.

KP/SCPMG - RRLAA is recognized by the State of California as an Accrediting Agency for Continuing Education for Clinical Laboratory Science (Registration #133).  This program is approved for 6 California Contact Hours.  Program number 01-1903
