Learning Objectives/Desired Results

 
At the conclusion of these sessions, participants will be able to:

  1. Build clinical ethics consultation core competencies through exercising clinical case review, adopting principled ethical analysis, building internal resources of ethical fluency, and interpersonal communication skills.
  2. Utilize Literature-in-medicine and humanities tools (Narrative Medicine, metaphor, voice, point of view) to better interpret patient care experience.
  3. Examine common transactions and rituals within their healthcare organizations, anticipate ethical concerns that may arise, and develop a preventative ethics plan to address these concerns.
  4. Educate others about ethical awareness, concepts, build fluency, and reduce potential for spontaneous ethical dilemmas.
  5. Anticipate technological changes that govern the healthcare landscape and interact with healthcare leadership to enhance ethical awareness around decisions of allocation and standards of care.
  6. Capture community, public health concerns, and voice of the patient when elucidating ethical considerations of healthcare organization decisions.  
 
Accreditation Designation Statement
The Kaiser Permanente National CME Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Statement
The Kaiser Permanente National CME Program designates this live activity for a maximum of 17 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses and Physician Assistants – Attendees may report up to 17 hours toward continuing education requirements for license renewal. ‘CME’ can be written in lieu of the provider number on all licensure renewal applications.

LCSWs & MFTs: This course meets the qualifications for 17 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Regional Health Education/The Permanente Medical Group is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LCSW’s LMFT’s. Kaiser Permanente maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.
