Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants should be able to:

  1. Use oral anticoagulants effectively and safely in the appropriate clinical picture.
  2. Use pharmacy support teams to assist with starting, maintaining, and managing patients on oral anticoagulants (including in the peri-procedural setting).
  3. Refer appropriately patients with NAFLD to specialty services.
  4. Order appropriate screening testing for patients with suspected rheumatologic conditions.
  5. Recognize the adverse effects of specific rheumatologic agents.
  6. Treat patients with appropriate antibiotics for STDs given the most recent information about potential antibiotic resistance.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
