Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of the symposium, the participants should be able to:

  • Determine the mechanisms underlying severe atopic dermatitis, including the role of infection; and what are the latest management strategies for severe atopic dermatitis.

  • Use appropriate medications to manage non-histaminic edema in the acute care setting, as well prevent
complications of non-histaminic edema in the chronic care setting.

  • Use evidence-based drug allergy testing protocols and perform a drug challenge without a prior skin test on appropriate patients.

  • Implement effective communication skills to improve the influenza vaccination rate and reduce patient non-compliance as a barrier to treatment.

  • Utilize tests that have diagnostic efficacy and discuss with patients about the diagnostic accuracy of such tests.
