"Getting the Most from the University at Albany’s University-Wide Arc Fault Study"
The University at Albany performed an extensive Arc Fault Study on 80 of its buildings, including more than 1500 power distribution panels. The University shares its experience with establishing selection criteria for consultant selection. We will describe the level of analysis we specified to assure identification of high risk components in our existing power distribution system which would provide us with valuable working documents at completion. We will point out the benefits of performing a thorough field survey of the existing electrical system as an essential step prior to analysis and show how it was completed at the University at Albany.

Presenter: Bill Dosch, P.E., MBA, Director of Facilities Operations and Michael Vadney, Assistant Director for Projects

"CUNY LED Interior Lighting Program"
CUNY is currently engaged in a multi-year LED lighting program that assesses lighting layout and fixture types for given spaces, incorporates controls (including daylight harvesting, occupancy sensing, and variable lighting levels), and reduces energy consumption. In some cases, lighting fixture layouts have been completely changed from the pre-retrofit configuration. Spaces being addressed are classrooms, hallways, corridors, auditoriums, recreation facilities, and exterior lighting. The program is not a one for one replacement program, but rather one that focuses on the appropriate lighting based on function, where the end goal is achieving a more significant reduction in energy use, while also achieving a well-designed and illuminated space.
