Can Patient Engagement Challenge Precision Medicine?
Tuesday, March 2, 10:00 a.m. PST

Everyone wants precision medicine but effectively engaging patients without overwhelming them can be an issue.  The complexity of the science of genomics and the data tsunami needed to make informed decisions is a major challenge.  How can the new age of precision medicine be reconciled with the need to engage patients in this complex world and allow them to assimilate the necessary information and make informed personal medical decisions with their clinical team.

  • Identify key challenges in making precision medicine a reality
  • Can the science of genomics be simplified so patients are not confused with the insights it brings?
  • If patient engagement moves from a challenge to an obstacle how will precision medicine be redefined to be successful?
