GIVING BACK – It’s what we do. It’s who we are… It’s become an Aaron’s tradition – it has molded our foundation, and is a promising part of our future. What an impact 2000 Aaron’s Associates can make in ONE city on ONE day – from donating goods to rebuilding structures that serve the underprivileged children of Washington D.C., it’s time once again to roll up our sleeves and BE THE DIFFERENCE in the communities that have supported Aaron's for 60 years. How will your efforts and your actions impact the lives of others on this mission as we storm the streets of D.C. on March 21st? Will you bring new hope to those who need it by donating blood? Whatever your Outreach destiny, WE, as AARON’S, will have changed our world! When registering online, attendees will have the opportunity to select up to 3 preferred projects to participate. One project will be assigned by Aaron's Planning Team. Detailed information regarding your assigned project will be in the confirmation email distributed prior to your travel date. Projects will take place on March 21st from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., unless stated otherwise below. All participants will be expected to wear the provided Aaron’s T-Shirt, comfortable pants or jeans, tennis shoes, sneakers or other closed-toed shoes and are required to agree to the Aaron's Activity Waiver at onsite registration to participate in a Community Outreach project. ON-SITE PROJECTS: Setting a New Guinness World Book of Records for “Largest Human Mattress Dominoes” Aaron’s associates can become part of a new Guinness World Book of Records by helping break the largest human mattress dominoes achieved by 1,150 participants in Germany in 2012. Mattresses will be donated to area D.C. homeless shelters. Click here to see La Quinta associates break an earlier “Human Mattress Dominoes” record in 2012. American Red Cross Blood Drive An on-site blood drive with the American Blood Drive will help ensure that Aaron’s associates can help save lives with their blood donations. Requirements are simple -- blood donors must be in good general health and feeling well, be at least 17-years-old and weigh at least 110 lbs. Be The Match Bone Marrow Swab Be The Match is a global leader in bone marrow transplantation. When people join Be The Match Registry, they provide a sample of their DNA by swabbing their cheek. This cheek swab is tested for a minimum of 6 basic HLA markers. The best marrow transplant outcomes happen when a patient’s human leukocyte antigen (HLA) and the HLA of a registry member or cord blood unit closely match. Click here to learn more. OFF-SITE PROJECTS: Boys & Girls Clubs of America Makeovers in partnership with Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation (CRSF) In partnership with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation and Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Aaron’s associates will makeover three D.C. area Boys and Girls Clubs.
