Childrens Hearings - A Guide To the Changes
The Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 will come into force on 24 June 2013 and will change much of the procedure of Children's Hearings. The Act aims to modernise the language of the Children’s (Scotland) Act 1995, to unite all the rules into one place, to include case law and practice policies and to provide more detail on the process.

This online seminar is intended to help practitioners become aware of the changes which will be relevant to their clients. This will help solicitors to better assist their clients when advising and representing them in any aspect of the children’s hearing system.

This presentation will address the following:-

  • a new definition of "relevant person"
  •  more rights to the child
  • changes to the grounds of referral
  • new rules to ensure national consistency and better enforcement of decisions.

This seminar is presented by Geraldine Fraser a senior solicitor at Aberdeenshire Council. Geraldine is involved with child protection and permanence work and has been accredited as a specialist in family law.

This is a recorded CPD Seminar, you are able to register then complete the seminar at a time and location to suit you. The seminar must be watched in its entirety and the questions answered at the end to complete your CPD.
