Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to the 10th Euro EUS Congress taking place in Paris on April 25–26, 2013, including Live demo from Marseille (Paoli-Calmettes Institute). Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) has become an integrated part of modern gastrointestinal endoscopy. Today EUS is one of the best techniques for diagnosing and staging GI and pancreatico-biliary diseases. Contrast-enhanced EUS and elastography have increased the accuracy of diagnostic EUS. |
EUS guided fine needle aspiration biopsy (EUS-FNA) is at present performed on a routine basis in many endoscopic centers and it is evident that this procedure has a major impact on therapeutic management of the patients by obtaining not only a tissue diagnosis but also prognostic factors as chemosensibility from lesions outlined by endosonography. However, the interpretation of EUS images are still difficult to learn and the EUS guided procedures are difficult to master before to be integrated into clinical practice. We will also demonstrate during this meeting Endobronchial EUS (EBUS) which allows now to reach the anterior mediastinum. Interventional EUS is now a new part of EUS, if some procedures are well established as EUS guided neurolysis, EUS guided cysto-gastrostomy, some others as EUS guided biliary drainage, EUS guided pancreatico-bulbo or gastrostomy are still in evaluation. One of the main goals of this meeting will be to define the real place of such technique. New EUS guided therapies will be demonstrated as pancreatic tumor ablation using EUS guidance, but also new diagnostic technique using needle based confocal laser microscopy (nCLE). Endomicroscopy is a newly developed endoscopic modality, which allows in vivo microscopy of the mucosal layer in about 1000-times magnification with subcellular resolution during ongoing gastrointestinal endoscopy. During our meeting, we will demonstrate live case of nCLE in pancreatic cystic lesion, pancreatic masses and lymph nodes. We have invited worldwide experts on EUS, they will give state of the art lectures and will demonstrate the last developments of these technologies during 2 days of meeting. On behalf of the Scientific Committees, we would like to wish you a pleasant stay and a successful meeting in Paris. Marc GIOVANNINI President of Euro-EUS Scientific committee P.G. Arcidiacono (Milan, Italy) E. Santo (Tel-Aviv, Israel) J. Iglesias Garcia (Spain)
