2011 QUARRY STUDY TOUR ITINERARY
Day 1 – Sunday, 3rd April 2011
ARRIVE MADRID
Welcome to the capital of Spain, Madrid! On arrival at the airport we will be met by our Trafalgar Tour Director, and transferred to our hotel (one group transfer). After check-in, there is a chance to relax and unwind.
Tonight we enjoy a welcome drink before dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 – Monday, 4th April 2011
MADRID – SIGHTSEEING & SITE VISIT
This morning we visit Maxam Civil Explosives, Avda Del Partenon, Madrid, from 9.00am until 12noon.
This afternoons guided sightseeing tour shows us the sights of Madrid. See the Plaza España, the Puerta del Sol, the Cibeles Fountain and Gran Via.
Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant – return transfers included.

Day 3 – Tuesday, 5th April 2011
MADRID to ZARAGOZA
After breakfast, we travel north east to the city of Zaragoza via the historic town of Guadalajara, which was founded by the Moors in the 8th century. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Zaragoza this afternoon. Take in the unique architecture of the buildings such as the Basílica del Pilar, La Seo Cathedral and The Aljafería Palace, which form part of the ‘Mudéjar Architecture of Aragon’ on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Day 4 – Wednesday, 6th April 2011
ZARAGOZA – SMOPYC TRADE SHOW
We will spend the today at the 15th International Show of Public Works, Construction and Mining Machinery today.
Partners will be free to explore Zaragoza

We return to the 15th International Show of Public Works, Construction and Mining Machinery today.

ZARAGOZA to BARCELONA
We depart Zaragoza this morning and travel east via Lleida to Barcelona, Spain’s second largest city.
Dinner is included at our hotel tonight.

Day 7 – Saturday, 9th April 2011
BARCELONA – SIGHTSEEING & TIME AT LEISURE
This morning’s sightseeing with a local guide includes a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter with its impressive cathedral. View the Columbus’ Monument and Las Ramblas. Our visit to Gaudi’s spectacular unfinished work, La Sagrada Familia Cathedral is a highlight! There is free time to explore Barcelona at your leisure this afternoon.
Tonight we enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 8 – Sunday, 10th April 2011
BARCELONA AT LEISURE
The full day is at leisure to continue your exploration of this amazing city. Perhaps take a visit to Park Guell. Designed by Antoni Gaudi, the park has many stone structures and fascinating buildings, adorned by intricate tiling. Or you might like to visit Montjüic, where the World Exhibition in 1929 and the Olympic Games in 1992 were held. Your Tour Director will be happy to advise you on the many options.

BARCELONA to BILBAO
The full day is on road today as we travel North West to the Basque city of Bilbao.

Day 11 – Wednesday, 13th April 2011
BILBAO – SIGHTSEEING & SITE VISIT
This morning’s site visit is to the Maxam Explosives factory, Barrio Zuazo, Galdakao, from 9.00am until 12noon.
This afternoons sightseeing with a local guide shows us the sights of the city, including the Catedral de Santiago, the Guggenheim Museum and Casco Viejo, the old town quarter.
This evening is free; why not take a ride on the Funicular de Artxandra to the top of Mount Artxandra to take in magnificent views over the city?

Day 12 – Thursday, 14th April 2011
BILBAO to MADRID
After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Madrid. On the way we stop in historic Burgos. See Burgos Castle, built in 884 A.D, and UNESCO’s World Heritage Listed Burgos Cathedral.
Dinner is included at our hotel this evening.

Day 13 – Friday, 15th April 2011
DEPART MADRID
This morning after breakfast, it is time to bid farewell to our Tour Director and friends as our Spanish tour comes to an end, as we are transferred to Madrid Airport for our onward flight (one group transfer).
