The UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology welcomes you to participate in the 1st International Symposium Future in Dermatology: Inflammation.
Inflammatory skin diseases comprise of the highest number of diagnosed skin diseases. Inflammatory mechanisms are involved in a wide range of conditions: infection, autoinflammation, autoimmunity, allergic or genetic diseases, itch (pruritus), and even in cancer (tumor-immune interactions).
Therefore, we are very glad and honoured to invite you to this Symposium in the beautiful city of Dublin. The event will explore state-of-the-art knowledge of how inflammatory mechanisms contribute to skin diseases, and how this knowledge can be exploited by innovative mechanistic insights or drug design strategies. Our hope is that this will lead to much needed benefits for patients in dermatology. Moreover, novel experimental or in-progress therapies or future drug-design will be presented and discussed to optimize treatment options for patients with inflammatory skin diseases in the near future.
The symposium will be held on 2-3 October 2015 in University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, and brings together a panel of outstanding international speakers. It is hosted by the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology, which represents one of the first dedicated institutes for translational dermatology research globally, and has attracted funding for its research programs from government and charities, as well as several leading pharmaceutical companies in the field.
Delegates will have the opportunity to attend two days of innovative expert lectures, lunchtime symposia on various inflammatory skin diseases (e.g. psoriasis, atopic dermatitis), and poster presentations with novel aspects in dermatological research in inflammation. Networking between industry and academia will give the opportunity to learn and discuss new or future therapeutic strategies for skin diseases. Finally, guests will be able to enjoy world-famous Irish hospitality at an “Irish Evening for Dermatology.” A unique element of the event will be a ceremony to award an honorary Doctorate to Prof Stephen Katz, addressed by the president of UCD, Prof. Andrew Deeks and Prof. Frank Powell.
We hope you will mark the dates in your diary to come to what promises to be a most interesting and stimulating meeting!
With warmest regards,

Organizers: Martin Steinhoff Thomas A. Luger
