She was promoted to the post of Deputy Public Guardian in late 2005. Over the years Debra has helped to shape OPG policy and procedure and has assisted innumerable financial guardians, both lay and professional, in the fulfilment of their statutory duties. |
Colin McKay Chief Executive Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland Colin took up the post of Chief Executive of the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland in April 2014. He worked in Scottish Government for 14 years, including 4 years working on mental health law reform, first as secretary to the Millan Committee, and then as Bill manager for the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003. He also worked in Government on justice, strategy and public service reform. Previously he was a solicitor, and spent 10 years with ENABLE Scotland, where he led campaigning and policy work, established the ENABLE Trustee Service, and served as a Mental Welfare Commissioner for 2 years. He has a particular interest in the interface of law, care and ethics. | |

Jim Pearrson Director of Public Policy Alzheimer Scotland Jim Pearson is Alzheimer Scotland's deputy director of policy and is currently responsible for all of Alzheimer Scotland's public policy engagement. This includes the involvement of people living with dementia through the Scottish Dementia Working Group and the National Dementia Carers Action Network. Jim has a background in welfare rights and has a particular interest in promoting and protecting the rights of people living with dementia. He played a significant role in developing Scotland's Charter of Rights for people with dementia and their carers, which puts human and other legal rights at the heart of each commitment of Scotland's first and second dementia strategies. Jim has recently completed an MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University. | |
