Julie Akhter is a patent attorney at Microsoft Corporation, where she is part of the patent strategy team. Prior to this role, Julie was a patent attorney at Morrison & Foerster in Silicon Valley. She has worked on a variety of IP projects: counseling clients on IP issues, drafting patent applications, working on projects for litigation and licensing, reviewing patents for acquisition opportunities and evaluating patent applications during the lifetime of the patent. Julie obtained her B.S. in Mathematics with Computer Science at MIT, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford, and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. Julie has also presented on this topic at Grace Hopper in the past and at several other conferences targeted to minority students.
