Call for Abstracts

 

The Scientific Program Committee is seeking abstracts, for a variety of presentation formats for the next CALAS/ACSAL Symposium to be held in Saskatoon, SK June 22-25, 2024 at TCU Place. You are invited to submit an abstract of your published or unpublished research, management solutions, or clinical case presentations. Our theme is "Lighting the Path to Discovery” and encompasses the following areas:

 
  • Lighting the Path to Discovering Advancement and Refinement: animal care, health, welfare, and refinements in zebrafish and other aquatic species
  • Lighting the Path to Discovering Improvements: refined and advanced methods of anesthesia and analgesia in animal-based research
  • Lighting the Path to Discovering Innovation: new technologies, techniques, and innovative methodologies in animal-based research
  • Lighting the Path to Discovering Support: developments and systems for compassion fatigue support and employee well-being
  • Lighting the Path to Discovering Transparency: use of 3Rs and communication tools towards improved transparency regarding animal-based research

 
We are particularly looking for a significant number of quality presentations and abstracts related to techniques, husbandry, research, and methodologies in aquatic species especially zebrafish.

All abstracts will be considered equally regardless of topic. Please feel free to submit on a topic relevant to your facility. Your colleagues want to hear from you! CALAS/ACSAL members in good standing may be eligible for a variety of awards (more details will be available in the New Year).

 
 

Presentation Formats

 

Poster Presentations: Posters will be on display in the exhibit area for the duration of the symposium. Poster boards and velcro/pins are provided, the surface area is 4' x 8' (full board)

 
Talking Posters: Talking posters will be presented on June 24th and June 25th.  Presenters will have 15 minutes to discuss the content, including audience questions. Following the talking poster presentations, all posters will remain on display in the exhibit area until the end of the Symposium.
 
Oral Presentations: Oral Presentations are 15, 30 or 45 minutes, including time for Q & A, they will take place on June 24th and June 25th as scheduled by the Scientific Chair.

How to Submit 

 

1.  Click the "Submit an abstract" button below

2.  If this is your first abstract submission for the 2024 CALAS/ACSAL Symposium, create a new profile in the system (can be different from a CALAS/ACSAL member profile)

3.  Go to the Submissions tab and click + add new

4.  Enter the details of your abstract

5.  You will receive a confirmation email once a profile has been created and after each abstract submission

 
You can log back into your profile at anytime until the submission deadline to submit additional abstracts
