This Advanced PACU Training Program is designed for the experience PACU RN and incorporates the professional practice and nursing knowledge from the didactic content based on the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) and their PeriAnesthesia Nursing Core Curriculum. The curriculum provides guidance across the spectrum of perianesthesia nursing, from advanced anesthesia considerations in high risk/low volume cases, risk and legal issues, diverse practice settings, sepsis, pharmacology, vulnerable patient populations and care experience in critical events. Combines including, video, case studies and tools to ensure they gain knowledge and assessment skills in the PACU clinical setting.

Explain the three treatment options for hypothermia.
State five common causes of nursing liability.
Identify essential components of malignant hyperthermia.

Identify patients with an increased PeriAnesthesia risk for sepsis.
Describe techniques to reduce perioperative morbidity and mortality.
Identify pharmacologic properties of inhalation anesthetics.
