Research Running on Cloud Compute & Emerging Technologies

RRoCCET is a hub for researchers seeking to gain access to the expanded research capabilities provided by the public cloud. It is an event organized by CloudBank, a cloud access initiative funded by the National Science Foundation. This conference is a success-driven, methods-focused event hosted and attended by researchers looking for solution paths: feasible, tractable implementation plans informed by existing case studies.

Ed Lazowska

Ed Lazowska is a Professor, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Chair Emeritus, in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington, and a Senior Data Science Fellow in the University of Washington eScience Institute.

 

Sarah Stone

Sarah Stone is the Executive Director of the eScience Institute. Stone handles eScience operations and planning, develops research and training programs, participates in strategic planning, and serves as the primary contact for university and industry partners, funding agencies and the public.

 

Rob Fatland

Rob Fatland is the UW Director of Cloud and Data Solutions. He has formerly worked at NASA and Microsoft Research and has a PhD in Geophysics.

 

Naomi Alterman

Naomi Alterman is the eScience Institute's Technical Education Specialist. She is a STEM education researcher and systems software hacker with a background in computer networking and electrical engineering.

 

Amanda Tan

Amanda Tan is a data scientist with the eScience Institute. She primarily helps researchers migrate their work to the cloud and facilitates strategies for open data access, effective data visualization and collaborative cloud-based tools.
