2022 GTEN Technical Course
Gas Turbines: Clean, Reliable Power Enabling the Energy Transition

October 4 & 5, 2022 at the Montreal Marriott Airport
800 Pl Leigh-Capreol, Dorval, QC H4Y 0A4

Gas turbine systems play a critical role in facilitating the energy transition towards de-carbonization of energy resources. Dispatchable, on-demand generation remains necessary to provide grid resilience through the increasing share of non-dispatchable renewables and extreme weather events. Building on established technology and a large installed base, advancements in fuel flexibility and emissions reduction technology are ensuring that gas turbines will remain an important part of the energy mix for years to come. The course will explore topics such as:

  • Measures for improving gas turbine systems efficiency and reducing carbon emissions
  • Use of low-carbon fuels (including Hydrogen) in Gas Turbine combustion and in production/distribution facilities
  • Gas turbines as enablers of non-dispatchable renewable power
  • Gas turbines providing grid resilience through extreme weather events
  • Carbon capture and storage developments
  • Low carbon intensity fuel considerations for Gas Turbine systems
  • Life-cycle considerations for Gas Turbines in the context of the energy transition

The training course will conclude with a tour of Siemens Energy’s state-of -the-art gas turbine testing facility.

Gas Turbines for Energy Network (GTEN) is a Canadian Technical Advisory Group to the energy industry and governing bodies. GTEN (formerly IAGT) delivers technical training and a biennial technical symposium related to gas turbines and turbomachinery in clean and reliable energy solutions. We maintain a working network of experts covering all areas of the value chain to share ideas, developments, training and review directives, guidelines, codes and practices impacting the applications of these technologies.

Our vision is to be the most trusted source of Gas Turbine knowledge in Canada, part of a world-class community of experts.

Registration will close promptly at 5pm ET on Friday, September 30th, 2022.
