Doodling for Writers: Creating Visual/Word Hybrid Stories with Rebecca Fish Ewan
Doodling for Writers: Creating Visual/Word Hybrid Stories with Rebecca Fish Ewan
Tuesday September 21, 5:30pm-7:30pm. Phoenix MST
In this workshop, we will use doodling as a foundation for creating visual hybrid form poetry/prose. Rebecca will briefly show examples of visual hybrid work and introduce/demonstrate doodling methods. Then, offering writing and doodling prompts, Rebecca will help guide participants in the creation of visual poetry/prose. Participants will be encouraged to begin to explore the wonderful and vast cosmos of doodles from where they are, so no formal art training is necessary to engage in making doodle poems or creating micro doodle essays. There are no gatekeepers in the Doodleverse!
What to have on hand:
Paper. Regular copy paper, your sketchbook, or any paper type you want to explore.
Writing/doodling tools, such as pens, pencils, watercolor paints/brushes, markers, crayons… anything that makes a mark on the page, from your favorite pen to some delightful art supply you have yet to try.
Note to digital tech users:
All the demonstrations will be analog, but the prompts and mingling of words and drawings can be done digitally. Rebecca is mostly analog, so won’t have useful tech advice, but just wants you to know all the prompts and activities can be done on a tablet with a drawing app.
