The topic of this luncheon, "Third-Party Risk Oversight: Emerging Expectations", will provide internal auditors with a current look at third-party risk management practices, highlighting how regulatory expectations are evolving and where new risks are emerging. We will discuss the distinction between traditional vendor relationships and more complex arrangements, such as fintech relationships. The presentation will cover key components of an effective third-party oversight program, discuss how regulators are approaching oversight of third-party activities such as marketing, underwriting, and servicing practices, and review recent themes in guidance and enforcement actions. The goal is to offer practical insights that can help internal audit teams stay informed about shifting risks and supervisory priorities in the third-party space.

Arlene Dzurnak has over 30 years of experience in banking and financial services.  Currently, she serves as the Chief Compliance Officer for First Electronic Bank in Salt Lake City.  Her professional background includes regulatory compliance, audit, and risk management at institutions like Washington Mutual Bank, GE Capital, Commenity Capital Bank, Celtic Bank, and prominent fintech companies such as Affirm.  She earned her BS in Accounting and MBA from City University in Seattle, Washington.

Carrieann Borges is the Head of Regulatory Management at First Electronic Bank where she oversees regulatory relations and manages regulatory examinations. She has two decades of experience in financial services and banking with a focus on regulatory compliance, risk management, and third-party oversight. Carrieann holds an MBA and professional certifications as a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS).
