Speaker Bio - Joshua Galvan: Joshua brings nearly 27 years of experience in helping clients enhance technologies, operations, and risk management. He leads teams in the energy sector, ensuring high-quality, cross-functional service delivery. Joshua focuses on achieving company goals through improved performance, integration, and governance, including AI governance. His teams help clients transform processes, digital systems, and organizational models. His work is informed by industry trends, client needs, and emerging technology such as AI.

Speaker Bio - Adil Zaidi: Adil is a Director in KPMG’s Cyber and Technology Risk practice with extensive experience in IT risk management and Internal Audit across various industries, including Energy, Technology, Manufacturing, Insurance, and Healthcare. He specializes in the assessment of AI governance and controls. Adil helps clients enhance IT governance, performance, and integration by leveraging process frameworks, IT systems, organizational structures, and sourcing relationships. His work is guided by NIST and COBIT control models, focusing on IT risk management, ERP integration, industrial control systems, digital processes, and mobile and cloud computing.

Session Description: This training program aims to build a foundational understanding of AI and its applications, teach best practices for AI governance focusing on ethics, compliance, and risk management, equip participants with skills to audit AI systems effectively, and explore integrating AI into internal audit functions to enhance efficiency and insights. After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Defining AI: Provide a clear and comprehensive understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI), including its core concepts, distinct types, and real-world applications. This training aims to establish a foundational knowledge of AI for all participants.
  • Governing AI: Introduce frameworks and best practices for managing and overseeing AI systems. This training covers the principles of AI governance, including ethical considerations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and establishing organizational policies to ensure responsible and effective AI use.
  • Auditing AI: Introduce participants with the skills and methodologies necessary to audit AI systems effectively. This training focuses on evaluating the integrity, security, and performance of AI algorithms and processes, ensuring they meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • AI within Internal Audit: Explore the integration of AI technologies within the internal audit function. This training highlights how AI can enhance audit processes, improve risk identification, and provide deeper insights, helping auditors leverage AI to increase efficiency and effectiveness in their roles
