SESSION OVERVIEW
All of us "do" documentation—from audit reports to emails to to-do lists, files, spreadsheets, and organizing receipts. Documentation is a fundamental underpinning practice in our work. But do we—and our organizations—truly understand its potential especially in today’s age of AI? Experience tells us, no. We often have little understanding of how we can apply everyday tools and documentation skills—which we already possess—to dramatically enhance our effectiveness.
Documentation has traditionally been viewed as "static"—lifeless piles of paper, dusty binders on shelves, or records in databases. But when applied properly, documentation is "dynamic"—it actively propels you forward, makes things happen, and transforms our outcomes.
Knowledge workers—including internal auditors, accountants, analysts, consultants, and leaders—face an urgent need to develop new documentation skills to harness AI's power and maintain relevance in today's marketplace. From individual workflows to team productivity to enterprise-level practices, we need better strategies, new habits, and clearer goals. Traditional "check-the-box" documentation practices are no longer sufficient.
In this session, you'll learn ways to rethink and adapt your skills, including:
Developing a personal information management strategy to avoid data and information overload
Implementing modern note-taking techniques and understanding the limitations of relying solely on apps
Leveraging AI tools to enhance writing, editing, and professional judgment
Adopting practices to increase your value, strengthen your personal brand, and enhance your marketability in the evolving landscape of knowledge work
Apply simple documentation frameworks to assess your teams, organizations, and personal skills against
