Artificial Intelligence for Internal Audit
Addressing cyber threats in Canada’s critical infrastructure sectors
Artificial intelligence (AI) is creating new opportunities for organizations across Canada’s energy sector to improve operations and drive efficiency. Even so, AI-driven improvements bring their own share of evolving cybersecurity risks. Internal audit (IA) teams across this sector have a unique and powerful role to play in assessing that threat environment. Succeeding requires IA to refresh the approach with AI now. Within Canada’s energy and industrial domains, AI is revolutionizing the operations of critical infrastructure sectors. As AI systems become integral to these environments, IA teams are confronted with the dual challenge of ensuring the security, governance, and ethical deployment of AI technologies while simultaneously evaluating and defending against AI-driven cyber threats. Taking a structured approach that bridges leading practices and advanced technologies can help IA teams navigate these challenges and safeguard Canada’s critical infrastructure now.
