Three senior leaders in Internal Audit discuss internal audit's ethical obligation to advance diversity and inclusion in the organization. Discussion will focus on: the importance of getting involved with D&I initiatives, how the new IIA standards tie internal audit's responsibility in advancing diversity and inclusion, the unique position that internal audit can play to support an organization to meet its diversity and inclusion objectives, what projects can internal audit do to enhance the organization's progress on diversity and inclusion. Conversation will also focus on challenges and successes of being women in leadership, unique challenges for internal auditors, how leaders and employees can support underrepresented groups.

Speaker Bios
Jade Lee, Vice President Internal Audit and ERM at ENMAX
Jade joined ENMAX in June 2023 as the Vice President leading internal audit, ICFR and more recently ERM. Jade is the leadership sponsor of the Women’s Employee Resource group at ENMAX. Prior to joining ENMAX, Jade spent 9 years at Altalink, Alberta’s largest transmission company and a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Her most recent role there was Director of Security, leading the cyber and information security, physical security and Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) sustainment teams; Jade was the Director of Internal Audit and ERM for five years prior to that. Jade has been recognized by the IIA as one of the “Top 20 Auditors under 30” by IA Magazine. Jade is also an IIA conference speaker and article contributor. Jade is a CIA, CPA and CRMA and graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Commerce.
Kathy Leew, Senior Director, Internal Audit at AltaGas
Kathy Leew currently serves as Senior Director, Internal Audit at AltaGas in Calgary, Alberta. A professional engineer and certified internal auditor with over 19 years of experience in the energy industry, she has experienced a variety of roles including Director, Internal Audit and Enterprise Risk Management, commercial development, asset management and transmission line design for AltaLink, the largest transmission utility in Alberta and a Berkshire Hathaway Energy company.
Kathy is passionate about risk management and contributing to a positive employee culture. She also served as the first president of the Berkshire Hathaway Energy employee resource group for Asians and Pacific Islanders, InspirAsian and believes in championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion both in and outside of the workplace.
Lynn Walsh, Senior Director Internal Audit and Risk Management, Rogers Communications
Lynn is a passionate risk professional with more than 20 years of experience and is currently the Senior Director Internal Audit and Risk Management. She came to Rogers through their acquisition of Shaw Communications where she was the CAE and lead the function for several years. Lynn started her career with EY in the Risk Advisory practice, with clients in oil, gas and energy before switching to industry. Lynn earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and later obtained her CIA and CPA from Delaware, USA.
Moderator: Emily Laycock, Director Internal Audit and ERM at ENMAX
Emily is currently the Director of Internal Audit and ERM at ENMAX and was previously the Director of Strategic planning and Performance Management. In this role she was responsible for the corporate business plan, performance management and ERM. Emily is also the Treasurer for the Women’s Employee Resource group. Prior to joining ENMAX in 2022, Emily spent 11 years at Altalink, Alberta’s largest utility. As the IT Audit Manager at Altalink, Emily led the portfolio of audit projects across Altalink’s corporate and operational networks and information systems. Prior to joining the IA team, Emily worked in a variety of engineering roles as a civil engineer within operations and projects departments. Emily completed her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, minoring in structural engineering from the University of Calgary, is as Professional Engineer (P.Eng) and CIA.
