Presentation Summary:

Per Rick Wright’s book Agile Auditing Transforming the Internal Audit Process “The internal audit value proposition must evolve and change if internal audit is to remain relevant to its stakeholders.”  In this presentation, Joel will cover how the Agile software methodology is applied to the execution of internal audits as covered in Rick Wright’s book and other industry sources. The presentation will also include a discussion on lessons learned from the Farmers® Internal Audit pilot and how Agile concepts were successfully integrated into established audit execution processes to that enhanced value provided to all audit stakeholders.  A Q&A session will follow the presentation to share Agile internal auditing experiences and best practices among the attendees.

Speaker Profile:

Joel Miller, CIA, CPCU, Certified SAFe® 5 Agilist, is an Auditing Consultant who has worked for Farmers® Internal Audit over 19 years and in the auditing industry over 25 years.  He has served the IIA Western Michigan Chapter in multiple roles including past President and current member of the Board of Governors.   Joel is a long standing Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Property & Casualty Underwriter, and earned his SAFe® 5 Agilist certification in 2021.
