About the Speaker:
Jesus Galaviz, Cybersecurity Associate at WestStar Bank, is dedicated to safeguarding the institution's assets and fortifying its security posture. At WestStar Bank, Jesus quickly advanced from helpdesk technician to Network and Cyber Administrator within his first year, managing the institution's network infrastructure for nearly 5 years. His success in this role led him to help establish WestStar's Cybersecurity department, where he now focuses full-time on cybersecurity initiatives and defense strategies.
In addition to his cybersecurity expertise, Jesus brings a wealth of general IT knowledge, with over 6 years of experience across diverse industries such as education, transportation, and distribution - totaling 13 years of IT experience. His IT career began in the distribution sector, where he quickly mastered a variety of technologies, including radio communications, physical security, long- range wireless systems, and CCTV. He then transitioned to the transportation industry, providing technical support to employees across multiple locations on the West Coast, gaining hands-on experience with remote tools, VOIP systems, and mobile services. His journey continued into the education sector, where he expanded his skill set to include server administration, networking, and managing comprehensive IT environments.
Jesus also has served as the Financial Sector Chief for Infragard Members Alliance of El Paso since late 2023. He is a native o El Paso, TX and is very proud to serve his community in any way possible.
